Hosting

noun

Topic: Building and running a site

1. The service that stores your website’s files and data on a server connected to the internet, so that people can visit it at any time.
2. Where and how a site is hosted affects its speed, security and reliability. Cheap shared hosting is fine for a small brochure site but can struggle under the load of a busy shop. Good hosting also includes backups, software updates and someone to ring when something goes wrong.

Example The site slowed to a crawl every Monday morning until it was moved to better hosting.
