Extranet

EK-struh-netnoun

Topic: Stock, data and integrations

  1. A private area of a website that only invited people can enter, such as customers, trade accounts, staff or members.
  2. Typical uses are trade customers with their own price lists, staff looking up documents, members reading private content, or customers checking the progress of their orders. It needs a safe login, sensible permissions so that people see only what is theirs, and care over how data is stored. It is a good example of work that a template cannot do and bespoke development can.

Example Trade customers log in to the extranet to see their own prices and past orders.
