Dropshipping
- A way of selling in which you take the order and the payment, but your supplier packs and posts the goods directly to the customer, so you never hold the stock.
- It lowers the cost of starting, since there is no stock to buy up front. The trade-offs are thinner margins, less control over delivery and quality, and a dependence on your supplier keeping accurate stock and price information. If the supplier runs out and you do not know, you have sold something you cannot send.
Example She runs a garden furniture shop on a dropshipping basis, so the supplier ships each order from its own warehouse.
