Topic: Building and running a site
- A modern image format, created by Google, that makes photographs much smaller than JPEG or PNG files with little or no visible loss of quality.
- Smaller images mean faster pages, which helps visitors, helps your Core Web Vitals scores and helps search. A transparent product picture saved as a 540 KB PNG can come down to around 30 KB as WebP. WebP also supports transparent backgrounds, and all modern browsers can show it.
